MesoHABSIM: Habitat model for e-flows determination, river management and restoration plannin.
Technical University of Munich, in collaboration with the Rushing Rivers Institute, USA and S. Sakowicz Inland Fisheries Institute in Poland, is pleased to announce a short course in the MesoHABSIM aquatic habitat modeling approach and its accompanying SimStream software.
This course will feature the MesoHABSIM technique, a comprehensive planning tool used for river scale, quantitative planning and evaluation of river restoration measures and environmental flows determination.
It is a physical habitat simulation model that describes the instream habitat conditions for aquatic fauna, than can simulate changes in habitat quality and quantity in response to alterations of river morphology or flows.
The course will be valuable for those interested in habitat modeling, restoration planning, e-flows and looking for alternative solutions to tough ecological questions. It will consist of two sections: Two days of theory in classroom and field followed by two days of practical software use. The participants can register for each of the sections (each section 400 €) or for both sections (600 €). Lunch and coffee brake included.
The course is scheduled for 19 June to 22 June 2018.
